La Purisima Catholic School announces winners in the annual poetry contest. Fourth through sixth graders Laura Stegman Angeline Aradanas and Michael Barr win first second and third with poems The Flag God is Our Father and Jesus Among the Teachers. Seventh and eighth graders Julie Barnacastle Sharon Robinson and Teddy Hannah take top three with Kindness Jesus and Famous Last Words. Cash prizes of 5 3 and 2 awarded. winners advance to state competition with results due in May.
Friends and former Lompoc residents gathered at Mrs. Kenneth Adam�s home in Newhall for an earthquake shower and potluck dinner honoring Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Giffin. A washbasket of gifts and a refrigerator bowl of dimes to replace lost crystal highlighted the event with several out of town attendees from San Luis Obispo Pebble Beach Santa Maria Fresno and Ottawa Canada.
