Renewed Golan Heights duel wounds UN observers
On the Golan Heights Israeli and Syrian gunners fought a three hour artillery duel at dawn. Two UN observers were wounded and Israeli casualties rose to two dead and five wounded in two days. Civilians in Ein Zivan shelter as shells hit near the kibbutz and roads were closed. The clash followed claims of both sides firing first and a new Syrian liaison officer wounded.

Offers rejected in teachers strike in San Francisco
