U S Announces Air Strikes in Laos and Troop Withdrawals
The United States disclosed air strikes into Laos with losses of three planes as 722 U S GIs departed for home. Troop levels fell to 460 000, the lowest since 1967, with 83 000 withdrawn in the past year. The 16th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron led departures from Tan Son Nhut to Misawa Japan.
