Park Commission approves 140000 for park improvements

The County Park Commission approved a 1973 74 fiscal year program totaling 140000 for improvements across seven county parks in south and north county. Key Jalama Beach Park projects include 22000 for electric line 18000 for a comfort station and 5000 for two trailer pads with hookups.

Public spirited citizens are urged to join a Saturday weeding party at the Wye north of Lompoc. Action begins around 9 30 a.m. Beverly Smith of PLUS says participants should bring their own tools and not bring children. Donations funded the planting with City of Lompoc help. Weeds have overtaken plantings after recent rains.

Californias proposed new energy regulatory agency debated

Conservationists urged the legislature to create a broad powers state commission to slow insatiable energy demands. Utility executives warned that delays in building new plants could trigger acute future energy problems and urged limits on the commission. The idea arose at a Thursday hearing of the Assembly Subcommittee on State Energy Policy chaired by Assemblyman Charles Warren.

Navy recruiting office relocates to County Housing Authority Building

PO2 Robert Thomas announces the Lompoc Navy recruiting office will open Mondays Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 30 a m to 4 p m starting Monday in the County Housing Authority Building. The move follows the former location at Lompoc City Hall. The Arguello Group of the Sierra Club meets at 8 p m today in the Public Library multipurpose room to hear a Forest Service slide program on the San Rafael Wilderness by Will Griffin. Public welcome. A research sand development reentry vehicle was launched today at 2 39 a m from Vandenberg AFB by the Air Force Space and Missile Test Center, with the Minuteman vehicle descending the Western Test Range.
