Roberta Flack tops 15th Grammy night in Nashville

In Nashville crowds flocked to the Tennessee theater for the 15th annual Grammy presentations first held outside New York or Hollywood. Roberta Flack won the record of the year for The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face and Song of the Year for its writer Ewan MacColl. The Concert for Bangladesh won album of the year. Ringo Starr accepted for George Harrison. Helen Reddy took best female pop rock and folk vocal. Aretha Franklin won both best rhythm and blues female vocal and best gospel performance.

Europe markets shut for week in world monetary crisis

Planners to tackle north county items in Santa Barbara session

The County Planning Commission will review north county cases in an all-day Santa Barbara session including rezoning near Solvang for 86 units, a DR-2 plan, a Haskell Asphalt Plant review, a lot split appeal near Santa Ynez, and Highway 20 renaming to Vandenberg Highway.
