Fatal crash at Lompoc Wye. woman dies and five injured

A Vandenberg Village woman died at Lompoc Hospital after a crash at the Lempe Casmalia Road and Highway 1 Wye intersection. Earl Taylor of Goleta and a passenger were treated for minor injuries. two more drivers in separate collisions suffered minor injuries at the same intersection. Funeral arrangements are pending for Helen Amy Columbus.

Flood losses in Lompoc reach 260000 dollars

Storms and floods caused an estimated 260000 dollars in damage to Lompoc streets and public facilities. The breakdown cites 134454 to streets bridges and roads 69371 to public utilities including the sewer plant 18000 to dikes and drainage 26651 to public buildings including the police pistol range 10961 to sanitation facilities and 1483 to debris clearance. City staff prepared the figures for federal disaster agencies. The events began January 24 damaging the sewer plant pistol range and many streets and culverts.
