Nixon flies to New York for apology to Pompidou

President Nixon decided to fly to New York to personally offer apologies and regrets to Georges Pompidou for pro Israel demonstrations in America. He telephoned Pompidou and will attend a Waldorf Astoria dinner in the French president's honor as protests loom outside the French Consulate.

New Israel Lebanon crisis sparks border raids

A senior Israeli army officer in Tel Aviv called the border situation very grave while Lebanon told the UN Security Council Israeli attacks risked extreme danger. Window break spree hits four downtown businesses in Lompoc

Police investigate a rash of vandalism in downtown Lompoc with four windows broken at Lompoc Savings and Loan Sangera Buick Golden Cue and Bel Air Liquors. A BB shot attacked a window at Varelane Warehouse. Damages range from 200 to 350 dollars with rocks used in the incidents.

Two Fresno Boy Scouts Feared Drowned

Two Fresno Boy Scouts ages 13 Steve Keeling and Tom Keeling were missing after falling into San Simeon Creek during an outing near San Luis Obispo. Believed swept into the ocean, Coast Guard helicopters and a fixed wing plane joined search efforts for the youths.

Dope Arrests Reported by Sheriff in Lompoc Area

Deputies arrested John Joseph Dassie III on suspicion of selling heroin with two counts and an offering to sell charge. Bail set at 18,750 after a December joint investigation with police. Gerald Lynn Caldwell faces drug sale and possession counts with 7,500 bail. About 150 pills tentatively identified as mini benies found. John Wade Gil and Nano Chavoya await arraignment on marijuana and dangerous drug charges with bail amounts listed.

Man booked after two-car accident

Harry Charles Foran, 39, of 4024 Capella Dr in Vandenberg Village, is charged with suspicion of drunk driving following a two-car injury crash near Central Avenue and H Street yesterday. He was treated at Lompoc Hospital, booked in Lompoc Jail, and released on $1,080 bail. Mary Jane Wiese, 35, of 704 Ocean View Ave at Vandenberg AFB, was driving the second car and may seek medical advice if symptoms appear.
