Lompoc Flower Festival Opens With Fireworks Parade
Southwick appears as grand marshal as the 21st Annual Lompoc Valley Flower Festival kicks off with a 9 p.m. ceremony at Ryan Park and a Saturday parade featuring 10 floral floats and 250 entries. The event runs through Sunday with concerts, art shows, a rock show, and regional performances at venues across Lompoc.

Fog or low overcast clears by afternoon through Saturday and cooler air settles in. Expect highs in the 60s near the coast to the 70s inland, with low tonight in the 50s. Nixon aide hints strong Phase IV actions after price freeze
Herbert Stein, chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, said Phase IV will include strong measures to curb food and gasoline prices and suggested the freeze could end before mid August. The 60 day price freeze was begun by President Nixon to craft the post freeze program.
