County budget may pull county tax rate below four dollars
County supervisors heard Auditor A T Eaves Jr project a $21 million rise in assessed value that could lift tax bills yet keep the levy near three dollars and one cent. A 74 cent increase was debated by taxpayer groups while hearings begin July 7 at the County Administration Building. The plan includes salary boosts and air pollution plans but omits some operational funds and narcotics program funding. The board debated whether to adopt or approve the budget for 1971 72.
