No agreement reached in county pay talks after meeting

SEIU members and County officials met with a state mediator but no agreement emerged. Talks began Monday afternoon and stretched late into the night. County official Raymond DPD Johnson declined to provide details.

Coronation Ball Will Feature Zella Lehr and Gypsy Band

The 1974 Flower Festival Queen’s Coronation Ball in Lompoc will host The Last of the Vaudevillians Zella Lehr and her Gypsy Band after the queen’s 8 p.m. talent show. Lehr, 24, a descendant of Lew Lehr, started singing with the Lehr Family Show in England at six and had a hit recording at seven. Her band blends country rock with classic tunes, having performed at venues from Reno to Las Vegas and New York's Playboy Club.

Pico elected EDA president in Lompoc Valley

Al Pico owner of Pico's Sporting Goods and Western Store was elected president of the Economic Development Association of Lompoc Valley at a luncheon. He succeeds Joe Sesto of Sesto Insurance. board members include John Martin, Virgil Phelps, Had Burger, Robert Kranig, Francis Beattie Jr., Murray Lester, William Ebbert, and O P Chase. Sesto received a plaque for 1972 74 presidency and groundwork for light industrial expansion was noted.

Mission themed library summer reading program opens in Lompoc

The Lompoc Library launches a 1974 free Summer Reading Program with a California Missions theme. Travelers from the seven Black Gold libraries join opening ceremonies tomorrow at 1 15 p m in the El Camino Real Mission Sala featuring Ben and Me and a bell signing ritual.

Debra Moore 20 Found Dead at Vandenberg AFB

Funeral arrangements are pending at Gregory McPeek Mortuary for Debra Moore 20 found dead in her barracks bed at Vandenberg Air Force Base. An autopsy is scheduled to determine cause of death. She arrived at Vandenberg from Birmingham Alabama in January. The airman worked in the base billeting office. A Mexican American Organization dance is set for Saturday at 9 p.m. in Chemical Workers Union Hall to benefit queen candidate Mona Castillo with music by Le Elusian group.
