Lompoc Considers 42 Inch Fence Along Miguelito Channel

City Council discussed safety options for the Miguelito Channel. A 42 inch green fence along Olive Avenue and parts of V Street was proposed to deter access and keep vehicles away. Cost to install estimated at 8000 dollars. some officials favored covering the ditch instead.

Lompoc trustees weigh nearly $15 million budget plan

Trustees reviewed a preliminary 1974 75 budget totaling about 15 million with a 3.77 tax rate per 100 assessed valuation up from 2.69. The document projects 71 million district valuation and emphasizes a 10 percent salary raise driving much of the increase.

Court upholds military code in Vietnam War dispute

The Supreme Court, in a 5-3 decision, sustains two sections of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Capt. Howard B. Levy, a Brooklyn dermatologist, was court martialed and given three years for refusing to train medics for Vietnam duty.

Festival queen ball and centennial coronation in Lompoc

Lompoc hosts the 22nd Flower Festival centennial queen coronation with eight contestants, a Las Vegas act, a barbershop quartet, a four piece band, and various performances.
