UCLA forecasting study projects inflation and job growth alongside rising long term rates through 1975. Emphasis on weaker real activity in 1974 with 8.8 percent GNP gain, 0.3 percent contraction in real terms, and 4.3 percent growth in 1975. California lottery bill fails in Senate committee
Sacramento UPI notes a statewide 140 million lottery and charity bingo proposals were rejected by the Governmental Organization Committee without a motion. Assemblyman Leon Ralph did not attend the hearing to press ACA180 creating a California lottery. The panel had heard earlier testimony on the measures.

Panthers sue IRS over probe into party contributors

Court papers filed in Alameda County show former Senate majority leader William F. Knowland carried more than 670000 dollars in personal debts when he died from a gunshot wound at his Sonoma County home on February 23. Liabilities total 1312333 with assets of 641429, including a 750000 bank loan. creditors list furnishings and bills. The estate executor, Paul Manolis, notes the Tribune was not affected and Knowland had warned his wife of financial limits.
