Ehrlichman trial set after papers produced

A federal judge set June 26 for the trial of John D. Ehrlichman and three others in the Ellsberg break in. The proceeding follows White House evidence delivery the defense had sought. The seven original Watergate defendants press for convictions to be overturned citing withheld or destroyed evidence and lied under oath by witnesses.

Nixon impeachment support rises to over half in Harris poll

Goleta bank holdup ends with deputy shot and three in custody

Three Los Angeles men were arrested after a $15,000 bank robbery at Commercial and Farmers National Bank in Goleta where a deputy sheriff, Roy Graves, was shot in the back and later operated on. Suspects Jackson, Graves, and Jones faced charges as hostages and money were recovered.

Portuguese Fiesta Parade and Queen Crowned in Lompoc

The Lompoc Portuguese Pentecostal Association hosts an annual fiesta in Miguelito Park Sunday at noon with a Saturday night dance at the Veterans Memorial building. Queen Barbara Ann Sousa and aides are among the royal court, with a parade to La Purisima Church for a 10 am crowning mass. A top sirloin barbecue runs noon to 3 pm, followed by an auction of Portuguese foods and merchant donations. Officers include Leonard Luis president and Victor Sousa vice president.
