Lompoc jail contract rejected by county board
The Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors voted 40 against approving a $60 300 annual contract with Lompoc to house county prisoners. City Administrator Gene Wahlers called the decision stunning as supervisors discussed alternatives including using jury boxes waiting vans or renting space in Santa Maria while a holding facility is built. Supervisor Robert Hedlund was absent for the vote and opposes reconsideration.
