Ramsey of Long Beach Calif was on the bridge as the Evans was cut in two by the Melbourne Ramsey qualified for sea going command only 10 days before the crash and had 20 months aboard with no prior naval experience The Evans captain slept through the collision while SEATO maneuvers kept ships changing course and speed threatening a broader crisis.

Worker Injured After 35-Foot Fall at South Vandenberg
An iron worker identified as T E Aragon, 52, of 825 East Ocean Avenue, suffered multiple fractures and other injuries when he fell about 35 feet at a facility on South Vandenberg. He was flown by helicopter to the base hospital and listed in guarded condition. Aragon works for Allied Engineering Co.
