County Budget Hearings Under Recess As Cuts and Additions Calculated
The Board of Supervisors recessed public hearings on the proposed 77.4 million county budget and revenue sharing until Tuesday at 9 30 a m. The county auditor seeks to determine net results of additions and reductions after three days of hearings this week. The board deferred major revenue sharing proposals and moved to reserve up to 500 000 for social programs instead of parking facilities. It deleted 400 000 from road allotments in First and Third districts to be reallocated to Fourth Fifth and Second districts. Frost and Slater note southern coast roads are less focused on road work. The road department reports 200 000 will be removed from Frosts First district out of 361 891 and 200 000 from Slaters Third district out of 1 236 000. A meeting with the two supervisors will outline revised programs. Delayed flood emergency funds are expected to exceed 400 000 for road work next year.
