Zoning Delayed for Mesa Oaks Area as Study Favored

The Fourth Supervisorial District Advisory Committee delayed recommending half acre zoning north of Mesa Oaks amid resident protests. Haldeman says Nixon demanded full Watergate accounting 11 weeks ago

Haldeman testifies Nixon first demanded a complete written accounting of Watergate 11 weeks earlier. He says Nixon based his public denial on assurances from John W. Dean III and that Dean was asked who was responsible for the break in. Dean later submitted a report on March 22, which Nixon found unsatisfactory. The deposition, part of a civil suit against CRP, was made public Thursday.

North county jail expansion approved by county supervisors

Santa Barbara County supervisors unanimously approved a 900000 expansion of detention facilities for the north county area funded from 1973 74 revenue sharing. The plan adds 30 beds at Foster Road substation and includes a work furlough unit a county jail committee opposed a 2 million recommendation calling it another Alcatraz and warned against change orders in construction.
