Board trip paves way for rural subdivision
The Santa Ynez Valley board approved a 63 lot 726 acre rural subdivision project past a key hurdle by a 3 0 vote for its specific plan and final environmental findings. Supervisor Frost condemned the move and walked out over a requested one week hearing continuance that would have allowed more input from valley groups and environmentalists.

Water board keeps current rate structure amid 1974-75 budget plan
Lompoc Water Commission voted to retain the present water rate structure while awaiting a consulting firm’s recommendations. The preliminary budget requests $964,864 for all expenditures, down slightly from the current year. Director Al Thompson said revenues will cover operating costs but not adequate capital outlay. The panel approved the budget despite shrinking fund balance and reserves. Acting chair Joe Mixsell led the session after Virgil Phelps resigned.
