Highlights from the California State Division convention noted the branch ranking third in the state with a 30 percent membership increase and a Fellowships honor roll. A Santa Barbara resolution urged action against oil drilling in the Santa Barbara channel. Two study topics were announced for the next two years, Academic Community New Look on Campus and This Beleaguered Earth Can Man Survive, along with an Air Pollution Control conference set for Friday, June 20 in Santa Barbara.

Coin collectors win show awards in Los Alamos and Santa Barbara
Three Lompoc coin club members earned one third and five first place awards at Los Alamos and Santa Barbara shows. Sherry Blankenship won junior division first with Columbian exposition coins and Santa Maria ship model. Mrs Marvin Blankenship took a first for a feathered Presidential coat of arms display. Mrs Harvey Betty earned two firsts for Texas centennial coins and Edward the VIII pieces, while a separate Sunday entry added a third for Edward VII. All winners belong to the Lompoc Coin Club.
