Bomb blast damages U S Army quarters in Saigon

A large explosion near the U S Army bachelor enlisted men's quarters west of downtown Saigon destroyed part of the building and damaged nearby vehicles. Police and ordnance teams searched the area. no casualties were reported though a Vietnamese security guard was listed as missing.

Obituary for Netta Helms RamseyFormer VAFB secretary

Funeral services for Netta Helms Ramsey, former civil service secretary at Vandenberg Air Force Base, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at McPeek Family Chapel. Burial will be in Glen Haven Cemetery, San Fernando Valley. Ramsey, of 125 Inverness Ave., died yesterday at Lompoc Hospital. Born November 8, 1907 in St Louis, she moved to Lompoc about eight years ago. Survivors include husband George Ramsey, mother Mrs James Simpson, and sister Mrs Jack Hood, all of Lompoc.

A KC130 refueling plane crashed during a practice landing at El Toro Marine Air Station killing 1st Lt. Roger W. Mullins and injuring four others. Mexican-American technician charged in Arctic ice island murder

Mario J. Escamilla of Santa Barbara, 32, is charged with murder in the death of Bennie Lightly, a research team commander, on a U S flagged ice island in the Arctic Ocean. He was arraigned in Alexandria Virginia under maritime law with a preliminary hearing set for August 5.
