Census protest nears in Lompoc over population figure

City Administrator Gene Wahlers says he has gathered enough data to doubt the federal census count for Lompoc. He plans a council report in August and hopes to meet next week with the regional census director to discuss discrepancies after a state survey showed the 1965 population was higher than this year’s count without FCI.

Nixon assures Israel on Mideast ceasefire proposal

President Nixon told reporters at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles that Israel has no reason to fear a Arab military buildup during a 90 day ceasefire, as both sides accept the Mideast peace plan. He warned Congress on taxes and housing funds, and spoke of desegregation issues in Southern districts.

Defense attacks credibility of Linda over use of LSD

In Los Angeles the defense for Charles Manson and co defendants challenged Linda Kasabian's Tate LaBianca testimony as fantasy born of drug impairment. Kasabian testified under cross examination about LSD peyote and other hallucinogens she used for God realization and nature experiences. A parallel item notes a $20,494,080 Air Force Western Test Range contract awarded to Federal Electric Corporation for FY 1971.
