City budget shows major shifts in street and library funding

William H. Silver 67 Dies in Lompoc Hospital

William Howard Silver 67 died Tuesday in Lompoc Hospital. Funeral services are Thursday at 3 p.m. in McPeek Family Mortuary Chapel with burial by private cremation. He was born February 28 1904 in Irvington California and lived in the area nine years as a retired carpenter. Survived by wife Novelle of Lompoc. Officiating minister W. B. Petzoldt of Bethany Lutheran Church. Labor dispute at Santa Clara Farms near Lompoc settled. about 20 Mexican workers returned to work after a firing incident.

Commissioners oppose plan to loosen county density rules

County Planning Commission members from Santa Maria and Montecito attacked a proposed amendment to the county zoning ordinance. They argued the so called compromise would raise density by letting developers count half the width of nearby streets toward density calculations for DR zoning. Eugene Sexton was assigned to study the proposal and report back.
