Guerrilla fighting peaks on routes toward Saigon
The heaviest fighting on guerrilla approaches to Saigon in 10 days occurred as Gen. Creighton Abrams prepared to depart for Bangkok to confer on war strategy with President Nixon. UPI reports indicate at least 70 Viet Cong and North Vietnamese soldiers were killed in four clashes northwest of Saigon.

California divorce reform moves to Reagan for signature
Gov. Ronald Reagan was poised to sign California's first major divorce reform since 1872 after the Senate approved the measure on 25-8 and the Assembly passed it 55-10. The bill ends grounds such as cruelty and adultery, allowing only irreconcilable differences or incurable insanity, and shifts to dissolution of marriage with a six month residency rule and six month finality.
