Buellton Blackout Strands Town From Power Failure
A daytime power outage in Buellton affected about 1,300 customers when an underground switch blew at 11 45 yesterday. PG E rerouted power by 1 30 to the eastern area and by 9 58 p m to the west, with shops and homes relying on candles and oil lamps. No major problems were reported and utilities restored after repairs at the Santa Maria warehouse.

Santa Ynez Valley High approves 5 percent across the board pay hike
The Santa Ynez Valley High School board in a special session approved a five percent across the board pay raise for certified and classified staff retroactive to July 1. A separate salary schedule for management and confidential personnel includes the principal, dean, athletics and recreation director, activities director, executive secretary, bookkeeper, maintenance and custodial staff with no less than five percent increases. The board also awarded $500 stipends to Frank Whitmore and Larry Oliveres and $700 to Sam Nelson for special duties. A final hearing on the 1977-78 budget is set for August 3, along with budget adoption and tax rate setting. The first segment of summer school will end Friday with about 500 in attendance.

Potter named to County Airport Committee vacancy
