Lompoc Considers Supplemental Water as City Grows North
The City of Lompoc faces future supplemental water needs as growth is steered north into Vandenberg Village and Mission Hills. NCPA Wins Geothermal Lease Deal With Shell Oil Co
The Northern California Power Agency and Shell Oil Co reach tentative terms to lease geothermal energy and build an 11 megawatt plant by late 1980. Lompoc Roseville Santa Clara Alameda Lodi Ukiah Healdsburg and Plumas Sierra Rural Electric Cooperative qualify for power from the project with Lompoc receiving about 3.3 percent of output. The $30 to $35 million facility will be atop the Geysers steam field and use dry steam to avoid mineral complications. City approval and transmission talks with PG&E remain pending.
