The Senate moved a 10 percent income tax rebate plan and a rival 20 percent bill, while the Assembly pursued amended tax reform. Summer Repertory Opens Fifth Season With The King and I

The Summer Repertory Company at Allan Hancock College Santa Maria launches its fifth season after rehearsals. A benefit performance of The King and I featured Irene Dunne attended by a full-house. The musical runs 16 showings through August 24 with specific dates this week and in July.

County plans data push for Santa Maria jail sub station

County officials press Santa Maria authorities for exact data to plan a new sheriff sub station and jail facility. Public Works says capital outlay spending for the coming fiscal year cannot be projected until the matter is settled, potentially involving up to a quarter of a million dollars. The Lompoc Record notes that the 1969 70 levy approval added over 600 thousand dollars to capital outlay with a 306 thousand carryover for 1969 70 and a total of 1.487 million including anticipated federal grants for the Santa Maria Public Health Center and Santa Barbara General Hospital, tied to the past fiscal year.
