Village squad sweeps to gain second place in league

Vandenberg Village American Legion baseball team swept Santa Ynez 1 Saturday and Santa Maria 20-5 Sunday to reach 53- record. David Dunn earned the win Saturday with Mac Fisher relief, Dunn and Pat Dampier plus Bill Hunt had two hits, Doyle Williams won the second game with seven strikeouts and a 3-for-4 at the plate.

Cox Wade Capture Low Net Honors in Mackie Tournament

The 6th annual Thomas Mackie invitational drew 188 golfers from around the world including Spain. E.W. Cox of Lompoc and J. Wade of Santa Maria shared top low net honors while Frank Murray and Roy McKenzie won low gross and defended their title for the sixth year. Bratz and Baskous delivered notable shots during the 36 hole event and a dramatic playoff decided the overall low gross winner.

Packers whip Legion Blues capture tourney
