Lompoc High School’s forensics squad earned a third place sweepstakes trophy at Moorpark College in a two day event. Debaters Chris Fryatt and Tom Speers competed on Friday on the National Debate Topic, with Speers taking a third in Impromptu and Fryatt a first in Boys Extemporaneous on Saturday.

Mat maids form new Cabrillo CHS group at wrestling meets

Cabrillo High School introduces the mat maids a seven girl group who run the time clock scoreboard and statistics at wrestling matches. The idea came from assistant wrestling coach Cliff Brookhart and varsity coach Dave Long after similar use at Brookhart's previous school. Mary Becker says she volunteered after first working with water polo.

Lockheed provides fifteen scholarships to qualified high school seniors planning college next fall. Ten awards target engineering or science and five in business fields. Lompoc High CSF Plans February Recognition Night

Lompoc High California Scholastic Federation prepares for a February 9 recognition night in the school library at 7 30 p m. Seniors earning life member status will be honored after six CSF semesters. Ann Berman chairs the event and hints at a guest speaker. Freshmen eligible for voting membership will also be recognized. parents are invited. The club eyeing an Enrichment Day trip to the Los Angeles area plans a spring outing to educational institutions and markets. Club officers include Ken Sanford president Pam Musgijeld vice president Kristi Olsen and Ann Bergman secretaries. Mr Lakatos serves as sponsor and counselor for Lompoc High.

Lompoc and Cabrillo high seniors graduating this year may access Cal Poly 90 scholarships in fields from management to animal science. Chapman College offers 28 full tuition awards for 1970 71, with more from Lewis and Clark and Anderson Broaddus colleges.
