Doctors to Install Officers at Santa Barbara Banquet
Dr. H Vernon Freidell will be installed as President of the Santa Barbara County Medical Society at the annual dinner dance at the Coral Casino on Friday January 29 1971. Officers include President elect Dr William J Kucera Secretary Dr Henry L Holderman and Treasurer Dr Robert Wilson. a council and delegates to the California Medical Association are named with Miles MecNiece Blanchard Rutten Ziemba and others serving. Dr Harold B Miles will act as installing officer.

UCSB Winter Enrollment Dips Reflect Overall Trend
UCSB official winter quarter enrollment stands at 12 918, down 726 from fall with graduate and professional programs most affected. Registrar Theodore Harder notes the drop mirrors prior pattern and contrasts with last year’s unusual fall decline of 89 undergraduates and 221 graduate losses. Total winter enrollment sums to 12 the fall and winter quarters.

Distinguished Service Awards Honor County Engineer Leaders
Norman O. Gunderson former dean of engineering at San Jose State College and Norman H. Caldwell Santa Barbara County Public Works director received the Distinguished Service Award from the California Council of Civil Engineers and Land Surveyors. Gunderson helped accreditation of California engineering programs and led San Jose State toward national prominence while Caldwell streamlined county engineering, cut staff, and kept costs down.
