The Lompoc Alpha Club Home and Garden Section will host a 1 30 p m program at the Alpha Clubhouse Ocean Ave and B St with guest speakers Mrs Al Royce and Mrs William Ahern city beautiful award winner of Camarillo The event invites Mayor Robert MacClure and many city and civic groups to join the cleanup and fix up effort.

Ice skating queen Peggy Fleming engaged to Gregory Jenkins
Peggy Fleming, America's Olympic ice skating champion, will wed Gregory Jenkins, a 24 year old medical student from Dallas, Texas, in June. The engagement was announced by her mother at a family party in Sherman Oaks. Fleming, 21, won the 1968 Olympic gold and now appears with Shipstads & Johnson Ice Follies. They met in Davos in 1965 while she toured Europe. Jenkins studies German in Zurich and attends Southwestern Medical School at the University of Texas where his father chairs the anesthesiology department.

Kathryn Hill a sophomore Dental Assistant at Allan Hancock College was named student of the month for December by the student government. She serves as past president of Eta Omega Chi and writes for Mascot magazine, with VICA membership, and recently placed third in Clinic Day for The Development of the Tooth. She plans to graduate this June with an Associate of Science degree and lives in Lompoc with her husband Captain Richard N. Hill and their three children.

Dr L E Heiges Jr spoke on heart transplants at the Alpha Club in Lompoc presenting a CBS film of four post operative patients. He noted newer procedures cut operation time and tissue rejection remains the main risk. Membership voted to join the new Lompoc Museum and donations were approved for local youth and health groups.

A needlework artist showcased an 1400 stitches per square inch tapestry costing 800 and two linen pieces with French knots and crewel. Mrs. Faust discussed crewel basics, cross stitch charts, and Danish Christmas calendars.
