Two survive Sierra plane crash after two weeks

Robert Starr age 17 and Gene Ebell 33 were rescued after 15 days in the Sierra foothills following a Fresno to Elko flight. They survived on snow water and frostbitten meals, while their pilot companion died. They were treated at Amador Hospital in fair condition.

Egyptian commandos destroy major Israeli HQ in Sinai raid

Egyptian commandos pierced 120 miles into Sinai to Rafah and Sheikh Zuwaid and destroyed most of the Israeli army general headquarters installations and equipment. Cairo said the raid was among the deepest since 1967 and caused heavy casualties, with Egypt reporting safe return of all its fighters. Israel said jets hit Egyptian artillery and anti aircraft positions in the Gulf of Suez region in response.
