Blizzard Driven Cold Snap Hits Nation After Tornado Toll

A blizzard spread across the northern Plains and upper Midwest as an arctic cold front drove temperatures down more than 30 degrees within hours. Tornadoes killed at least 29 people in Hazlehurst Mississippi, with hundreds injured. The West Coast faced ongoing rain and flood risks as rivers rose and mudslides threatened eastern South Dakota.
