Lompoc Faces Flooded Intersections After Four Day Storm
During a four day storm Lompoc recorded 9.36 inches of rain causing water to pool at key intersections. Dozens of cars stalled and about 25 fender-bender type accidents occurred as drivers misjudged water depth. Officials cite poor drainage and a flat terrain as causes and propose time and about 1 million dollars to fix the problem.

MOL funding and Lompoc economy in 1969 70
The 1970 Defense budget offers no MOL boost, pushing the first manned orbit from Vandenberg to 1972. MOL spending for 1969 was cut by 85 million, with 576 million planned for 1970. Local factors point to an overall economic upswing in the Lompoc Valley despite a slow MOL pace. Population in the valley shows slight declines from 1966, while base personnel rise and civilian growth continues.
