Air Force retires missile tracking ship USNS Huntsville
The Air Force inactivated the range instrumentation ship USNS Huntsville at Port Hueneme and moved it to water storage at Oakland. Remaining in ready reserve, she can be recalled within 30 days. A July 1972 review will decide full retirement.

Forty one to graduate from Allan Hancock nursing program
Forty one students completing Allan Hancock College Continuing Education nursing assistants program will receive certificates at a 7 30 p.m. ceremony in the Student Center. Anniversary of California Gold Discovery in Coloma
The 125th anniversary celebration marks James Marshall spotting gold at Coloma in 1848 while building a mill for Capt. John Sutter. The event includes an underground lighting dedication and a parade led by Gov. Ronald Reagan on Sunday with former Senator William F. Knowland. Coloma, once 10,000 strong, now a village of about 180 residents, hosts the festivities this week.
