De Gaulle to remain until 1972 says cabinet

In a brief statement President Charles de Gaulle told his cabinet he would not resign before his 1972 mandate ends. He rejected Pompidou's push to run, while protests and strikes in France signaled continuing political tension and labor unrest.

Trustees reaffirm stand to keep SF State open in clash with Reagan

California State College Board of Trustees closed a two day session after a heated dispute over San Francisco State. Governor Reagan branded a Norris plan for direct talks with minority student leaders as a sellout and urged patience until turmoil ends. Trustee Lee defended the BSU while Dumke warned the demand bypassed official channels. The panel approved a five member committee to discuss issues with SF State administration and student groups.

Senate debates statewide school property tax plans
