Fiscal critique of Cachuma water deal burden on county finances
The report explains that only 1 300 acre feet of water has been delivered from the Cachuma project at about 20 dollars per acre foot. Districts will net nearly 75 000 dollars in tax money while getting water free. To finance this, the County Water Agency raised its tax rate this year. Until actual operation begins and delivery terms are met, further profits are anticipated at the county's expense. Supervisor McClellan objects to the Bureau's action as inconsistent with prior assurances.
