Nader disputes energy crisis claim before Congress

Water workshop set for February 2 in Lompoc

Allan Hancock College Offers Spring Lapidary Classes

South Viet naval shadowing Chinese gunboats near Paracel islands

South Vietnamese vessels shadowed Chinese gunboats off the Paracel islands in the disputed South China Sea. Government reports say 18 Chinese fishermen landed on the islands under guard. In the Central Highlands, government forces pressed their advance on Le Minh, with 121 North Vietnamese killed and three soldiers wounded. In Phnom Penh, rebels fired rockets at the capital, killing at least five and wounding 16, though today’s blasts caused no further damage.

Oil stock steady as gasoline output seen cutting back

Standard Oil of California reported gasoline in stock essentially unchanged from a year ago while crude and partly finished oils fell. O N Miller warned that declining crude supplies may curb future gasoline output as government pressure boosts heating oil stocks this winter. Inventory figures show 12 million barrels of crude, 7 million partly finished oils, 9.6 million barrels of gasoline, 3.1 million jet fuel, 9.7 million distillates, and 4.9 million residual fuel oil.

Truck Flips Blocking Refugio Curve Near Goleta

A truck loaded with refrigerated meat for Vandenberg Air Force Base flipped onto its side on Refugio Curve near Goleta. CHP said the driver had minor injuries and traffic was blocked while a relief truck from Los Angeles arrived to move the load. Weather across the Central California Coast has been rainy and blustery for two days.
