Unwarned taxpayers to get new day in court
About 1,100 property owners who did not receive notices of higher assessments may appeal before the Board of Equalization. The assessor's office and Clerk Howard Menzel plan a hearing schedule, with five county supervisors involved, as delays from last December complicate the matters. First District Supervisor George H. Clyde says a moral duty exists to inform these taxpayers of the situation.
