Abortion discussed by Dr Love at Right To Life meeting

Dr Jack W Love of Santa Barbara Medical Clinic urged conscience to oppose abortion at a public library meeting of about 70 people. He cited legal opinions on when life begins, argued life starts at conception, and criticized abortion as a medical procedure. The group announced tentative plans for a Feb 1 gathering.

Local Quota Club votes donations

Lompoc Quota Club donated 150 dollars to the Girls Club building fund at a Wednesday luncheon. An additional 100 dollars will come by June, totaling 246.22 net from the fund-raising project. The group approved black-out drapes for hard of hearing classes at Vandenberg and named Ellen Gray to the ways and means committee. Gene Doud was slated to speak on the YMCA work at the January 27 meeting, with a film demonstration.

Rainbow Girls Board Members Honored at Eastern Star Meeting

Rainbow Girls board members were honored at Miguelito Chapter Order of Eastern Star. Connie Korczak spoke for Rainbow Assembly 106, while Mizpah Chapter’s Oscar Olsen was introduced. Courtesy officers and Jobs Daughters committee staffed the evening.

Francis Golden Greek room marks 25th anniversary

The William A. Francis couple celebrated silver wedding at home 1236 N A St with son Andy on leave from Ft. Devens to co host. Attendees included Dorothy McIntosh sister of the bride and Major (Ret.) J R Midkitt. The couple married Dec 21 1945 in Springfield Illinois.

Engineers install officers at Vandenberg group

The Vandenberg Engineering Management Group at the IEEE installs Jack Tunell as chairman from Systems Development Corporation with Ron McGinley of Martin Marietta as vice chairman and Jim Neal of Space and Missile Test Center as secretary treasurer. H. L. Matter past chairman led the formal dinner at Merrell's Steak House Santa Maria and urged adherence to the constitution and bylaws.
