Mrs Looker Named First Woman Chairman Of County Planning
Mrs. Looker Mary known as Mrs Mary Looker becomes the first woman to chair the Santa Barbara County Planning Commission. She was elected during the annual meeting in the county engineering building and succeeds Darwin Sainz with three women among the nine members. Her term runs to January 6, 1975, after appointment November 20, 1972 by Frank J. Frost. Also serving on the commission are Mrs. Peter Bratt and Mrs. Zita Nielsen, reflecting a shift from a traditionally all male body.
