Engineers to vote on strike as rail slowdown bites Britain

Leaders of 29,000 locomotive engineers met to decide whether to end or intensify a four week slowdown that halts commuter services and cripples the national rail network since December 12. Prime Minister Heath canceled a crisis cabinet meeting to work at Chequers on a speech ahead of Parliament’s return for a two-day session. One Term Presidents Seen In Watergate Reform Talk

The Senate Watergate committee suggested limiting presidents to one term and overhauling campaign finance. The proposals appeared in an amended complaint and memorandum filed in U.S. District Court as part of a bid to obtain White House tapes. It argued that if Nixon and aides were involved in wrongdoing tied to the 1972 campaign, sweeping remedies could be warranted.

Wholesale prices rise 2.5 percent in December

UPI reports December wholesale prices climbed 2.5 percent led by fuels and foods, lifting the annual wholesale index to its largest year rise since 1946. Refined petroleum up 19.5 percent, food up 2.2 percent for a 26.7 percent yearly food rise, and industrial commodities up 2.7 percent. For 1973 the index gained 14.8 percent, the highest since 1946.

Reagan Budget Proposes 6.7 Million Reimbursement for Local Costs

California cities and counties clash with the Reagan administration over state reimbursement for election costs tied to a limitation initiative. The budget proposal includes 6.7 million to cover the state share, far short of the 15.3 million sought by local governments. Legislative Analyst A. Donald D. Reighley, 19, died Saturday at Travis Air Force Base hospital. Recitation of the rosary is at 8 p.m. at McPeek Family Mortuary chapel with a prayer service at 10 a.m. tomorrow. Rev.
