An all-points bulletin is issued after Garden, serving three years for AWOL and larceny, escapes from the USDB honor barracks. He was spotted in Lompoe and later north on H street after a wild ride south with two companions from the Silva ranch.
The notice lists annual subscription charges of 3.00 dollars within Santa Barbara County and 4.00 dollars for addresses outside the county. It sets the pricing clearly for local readers and out-of-county subscribers.
The city council gave first reading to an ordinance abandoning the portion of South M street through the high school campus. It grants the city a perpetual utility easement and bars building on the abandoned area. The school owns the remaining private parcels, expanding the campus to four blocks bounded by Cypress Olive N and L streets.

State Park Commission submitted to Governor Knight a five year land acquisition program listing Pt Sal park 100000 Qio Flaco lake 200000 and Ell wood beach 120000 in Santa Barbara county. The plan omits La Purisima Mission site and requests 1956 65 development funding with 11500 for fence and power line relocation and 10500 for restoration of the mission utility building.
