Lompoc Council Approves First Reading On Water Rate Change

The Lompoc City Council approved the first reading of an ordinance to raise water costs while keeping rates technically unchanged. A 3-2 vote supported Lefkowitz and Scott who urged hikes for large users, lowering free water from 500 to 200 cubic feet and projecting higher but modest revenue gains.

Senate Democratic Leader Mike Mansfield opened the 93rd Congress urging prompt legislation to end U S involvement in Vietnam. Oceanfront condo plan approved after seawall removal

The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a revised development plan for the Vista del Montecito project on the Montecito oceanfront. The plan eliminates a rock seawall and 18 units, moving the development farther from shore, amid protests by preservation groups and Chumash descendants.
