Local New Year crackdown cuts drunk driving arrests in Santa Barbara region
Authorities credit a major drunken driving crackdown during the New Year weekend for a low injury toll. One fatality reported in Santa Barbara City. Lompoc and Buellton CHP areas show 13 arrests, 34 in Santa Barbara jurisdiction, 32 in Santa Maria. Four of 13 Lompoc Jail entrants had prior drunk driving convictions.
