Railroad talks resume Monday to avert nationwide shutdown

Negotiators for railroads and four shopcraft unions will resume talks Monday at 2 p.m. EST in a bid to reach a new contract before federal court restraining orders expire at midnight. The unions and railroads paused negotiations in Miami Beach last week. Meany met with union presidents Friday as a judge prepared to rule on injunctions.

Snow storms sweep across Montana and beyond

Heavy snow with winds 30 mph blankets southern Montana and spreads from the Great Lakes to the central Appalachians. A bus crash near Saratoga Springs, New York, kills three and injures at least 23 amid drifting highways. Travelers warned as up to six inches more snow are forecast in the Yellow stone and Musselshell River valleys.

Robertson to head Lompoc Boys' Club

Ray Robertson, Lakins chief of police, was elected president of the Lompoc Valley Boys Club board at a breakfast meeting. Four new members joined the board including Mayor Robert MacClure and Mrs Doris Mueller. John Dittmar became vice president while Mrs Mueller and Mrs Benton were secretary and treasurer respectively.

Governor Hails Allan Hancock College Appreciation Week

Governor Reagan signed a special resolution proclaiming March 15 as Allan Hancock College Appreciation Week. The action honors the college for outstanding contributions to education over 50 years as Allan Hancock celebrates its golden anniversary.
