Girl Scout troops honor international friendship program

A Thinking Day program on international friendship was held Monday at Fillmore School with Junior Troop 146 and guest Brownie Troop 329 and Junior Troop 160. Leaders and members presented talks, displays, a film, and games about the worldwide Girl Guides and Scouts network followed by refreshments.

Lincoln's Day Observed by Honda Circle Companions

The Honda Circle 708 Companions of the Forest of America marked Lincoln's Day with readings of The Greatness of Lincoln and Some Sayings of Lincoln. Mrs. Marcus Bounds read poems, Mrs. Henderson led The Battle Hymn of the Republic, and Deliliah Riley was installed as Jr. Past Chief Companion with Lurene Beattie presiding.

DAR notes history of America Marking American History Month

Red Cross Offers Advanced First Aid Course

Lompoc Red Cross chapter begins a 15 hour advanced first aid course on March 2 meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m. in Lompoc High School Library Room 2 led by Allen Holliday. Eligibility includes 15 or older in tenth grade with a standard certificate, which is also required to teach. An instructors class led by Gerald D. Davis and Walter Ward runs May 10-14 in Santa Maria from 7 to 10 p.m. Call RE6-8710 for details.

Margie Browning celebrated by Omega Pi sorority sisters

A Valentine Ball queen Margie Browning was honored with a comedic skit by Omega Pi Beta Sigma Phi sisters. The event supported the Beta Sigma Phi International Endowment Fund and featured plans for a March 4 presentation meeting and officer elections on March 18. Fundraising eggs sold since 1961 rose to 2000 pieces with profits aiding Lompoc charities and nursing scholarships. Hostesses and guests attended, with door prize won by Mrs. Robert Schilpp.
