Escaped convict says he had something to take care of

Jimmy Dee Harvey a 24 year old San Quentin convict who abducted two women and two children and drove to the Los Angeles area said he escaped because he had something to take care of that couldn’t wait He was captured in Fullerton after a 13 hour stretch during which he threatened one woman with a score to settle He used scissors from the prison barbershop to seize his hostages and freed them unharmed before reaching Fullerton He faces charges of kidnapping robbery and escape with bail set at 200000 and a March 3 arraignment date

Apollo 15 astronauts set for moon flight in July

Cap Kennedy reports Apollo 15 will launch July 26 with David Scott James Irwin and Alfred Worden aboard. Mission lasts 12 days with 67 hours on the lunar surface and about 20 hours of EVAs per astronaut, including driving an electric car.

Army Captain Michael P. Howard Named Artillery Weapons Chief

Redstone Arsenal Alabama Army Captain Michael P. Howard son of Mr and Mrs Martin P Howard of Lompoc California has been assigned as chief of the Artillery Weapons Branch Office of Doctrine and New Materiel at the US Army Missile and Munitions Center and School. He entered the Army in January 1967 and was last stationed in Vietnam. The 27 year old earned a BS from California State Polytechnic College San Luis Obispo in 1966 and recently returned home from WAVE recruit training in Bainbridge Maryland. Roxanne Jones daughter of Mr and Mrs Earl Lester Jones of Lompoc and Cabrillo High School Class of 1969 has returned after a leave period and will proceed to San Diego Naval Training Station for dental technician training.
