Lompoc Students Sweep Tierra Adorado Art Contest
Lompoc students excel at the Tierra Adorado District art contest with first second and third place awards plus a merit. Vernoia Griffin from La Honda School won first in elementary, Mary Tibodeau of Lompoc Jr High took second in junior high, Sandra Martin of Lompoc High earned third in the senior poster contest, and Kent Manzo of Cabrillo High received a Hallmark merit for a wood print. Griffin plans to advance to state, with judging at Universal City in May.

Lompoc Historical Society Hosts Saturday Workday At Fabing Spanne Home
The Lompoc Valley Historical Society schedules a February 28 workday at the Fabing Spanne home with 8 am start, painting prep, yard tasks, and bringable tools. Past volunteers include Pickering Calvert Spanne family members and local residents. A February event leads into a March talk on Conservation Month focusing on La Purisima Mission Mesa and Manzana area, followed by a chicken barbecue at Grange Hall and a Santa Barbara Mission Archives tour on March 15. Reservations are urged for meals and tours. transportation can be arranged via Earl Calvert.
