Swimming Registration Opens for Lompoc Lessons

The Lompoc Recreation Department invites registrations for the next session of swimming lessons. Friday hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 105 South C Street. A $4 per child fee applies. Pre-beginner class requires 24 inches minimum height. Classes run Monday through Friday for two weeks.

DA plans probe of Schrade gift

Senate leader Jack Schrade faces a district attorney probe over a $5 000 gift from a special interest lobby. Sacramento County D A John Price said the inquiry has begun and may last unknown. Final approval granted to 30 more ag preserves

County supervisors gave final approval Tuesday to 30 more agricultural preserves in the county and set a March 1 lien date for recording to qualify for tax benefits. The action aims to finish the program for the current tax year, with extension talks ongoing in Sacramento and a March 2 next meeting. Most of the preserves approved are in Lompoc Valley with others in the Los Al-. districts await further details.

Court clerks across county justice courts get raises
