Public awareness drive and power concerns loom for Santa Ynez district
The Santa Ynez River Conservation District No. 1 board prioritized public awareness on water shortages due to drought and possible conservation steps. They highlighted the critical need for reliable electrical power to pump water, noting the risk of rolling blackouts and rising pump loads as Lake Cachuma storage declines. The district plans coordinated outreach with Solvang and Buellton agencies and involvement from the Agricultural Extension Service, plus authorization of water allotments and service extensions for three residences.
